Alison Loat - Lifting the Veil on Public Service and Politics - Part 3

Alison Loat
Executive Director, Samara

Alison is the co-founder and Executive Director of Samara, an organization based on the idea that public service and public leadership matter. Samara is involved in projects that strengthen:

  • Political leadership;
  • The connection of citizens, both to each other and to public ideas; and
  • The media's contribution to public affairs.

Alison is a graduate of Queen's University and the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. She is also an Associate Fellow at the School of Public Policy and Governance and teaches at the Rotman School of Management, at the University of Toronto.

She has also worked with McKinsey & Company and co-founded Canada25, a non-partisan organization that successfully involved thousands of Canadians under the age of 35 in the development of public policy. Maclean's magazine named Alison to its Top 25 under 30 for her work with Canada25, and in 2005 she received the Public Policy Forum Young Leaders Award.
