Roger discusses ideas from his book The Opposable Mind, the basics of integrative thinking and examples of business leaders who are using the techniques to advantage.
I couldn't agree with you more Linda! And during that Federal Debate where the Green Party Leader was FINALLY included, I was thinking ~ even if the Green Party doesn't get elected, I would sure like to have Elizabeth May sitting in Parliament to keep the "old boys club" in check! Too bad she didn't run in a seat she could have easily won with all the votes she got! THEN she would be in a position to "slay the dragons" and help turn this stagnant system around, and start cleaning up the corruption.
I definitely believe our entire system of government needs an overhaul with new rules, checks and balances for real transparency and integrity at every level. Only then can we really expect more public involvement from the now cynical electorate. Unfortunately, I doubt that I will see that anytime soon.
However, if we hope to remain cautiously optimistic, I think it would be a good start to have that integrative problem solving model incorporated in public forums and election campaigns ~ to give people real reasons to vote for the right candidate. All the liars, and lame sandbaggers could more likely be publicly exposed BEFORE the election, and then maybe, just maybe we could actually elect a few more honest, decent politicians into office ~ working FOR the people. Realistically speaking however, I won't be holding my breath.

When the press was trying to get the candidates of the last federal election to work together to talk about issues, the process they initiated invited integrative thinking. The desire to work on Canada's problems together by using integrated problem solving rather than debating issues ensures that the focus is on finding solutions and not as focused how issues are presented. Elizabeth May effectively used this integrative thinking model to her advantage, demonstrating her political accumen.
